Navient Settlement- the Worst Student Loan Servicer?

Navient Student Loan Servicer

Navient, one of the nation’s largest student loan servicers, has settled a student loan forgiveness lawsuit.

Maybe you have student loans through Navient. If so, I’m sorry for you. Navient actually got 2.7 stars out of 5 stars on our survey of hundreds and hundreds of readers, and that’s actually the worst rating of any loan servicer out there. Why do people hate Navient so much? They ranked tops for the number of complaints in the CFPB’s database for student loan servicers.

Navient representatives overall tend to not be the most helpful and do not give accurate information, on average, from our experience talking to our hundreds of readers. Now, that’s not to say that there are not good Navient representatives out there that do try to help and give accurate information, but on average it seems like when you call a Navient representative, you know, they almost make forbearance seem like a gift instead of getting you onto an income-driven repayment program.

They’re more than happy to do whatever is easier for them to get you off the phone, and in general, Navient tends to make things pretty difficult whenever you’re dealing with them. So, of course, it’s best to deal with Navient online if you have to deal with them.

That said, how do you deal with Navient student loans if your debt is there and you really just need to get a solution to get accurate information on your student debt. The first thing that I would suggest, is if you’re just graduating, and you don’t actually have any credit on your loans towards loan forgiveness, then you might consider consolidating your student loans so that you can move them away from Navient to a better loan servicer such as Great Lakes.

Now, that is a plan that’s great if you don’t have any credit towards loan forgiveness, but if you do, then consolidating wipes that credit away. So you don’t want to eliminate credit towards loan forgiveness just so that you can move your loans away from Navient.

That’s not worth it. Now, another way you could get your loans away from Navient student loans is by refinancing. So if you know that you’re paying too much in interest to Navient and you want to get out of debt as quickly as you can, then you would want to apply through our site and get cashback refinancing bonuses, some of the best you can find anywhere, and you’ll get usually $200 to $500 for refinancing and you’ll move your loans away from Navient to a better loan servicer that’s going to have better customer service when you deal with them.

Now, if you have a complaint with Navient, you can lodge it with them directly, I just would not expect them to do much about it. Navient is kind of a holdover from Sallie Mae. So Sallie Mae kind of still exists, but they took over all the private student loans, and Navient is handling the student loan servicing.

Now, there are some concerns with the Navient lawsuit that’s been filed by a bunch of different states about how Navient deliberately misled borrowers, put people into forbearance when they should have been on income-driven repayment options, and just in general provided a bad customer service experience.

So I do not expect Navient borrowers to really benefit all that much from that, except for the future, you might get access to a better loan servicer at some point. If you’re dealing with Navient though, if you want to have a plan, that’s the best way that you’re gonna be able to deal with them.

So if you want to get a plan for professionals from CFP and CFA professionals, then contact us at Student Loan Planner. So, Navient student loans: terrible to deal with, just try to get educated and take advantage of all the free resources out there to educate yourself, and so that you can make the best decision for you and your family, and that way the next time you call Navient you’ll know exactly what you’re asking for instead of being at the mercy of some of the representatives who don’t have particularly a great reputation.
